504 Gateway timeout only on safari

For a while now I haven't been able to access a streaming site from Safari. Everything works perfectly on Chrome (which I had to install because of this problem). I'm on a Macbook Air M1 2020 on MacOS Sonoma 14.0

I already saw a discussion on the Apple forum which said to do:

System Preferences>Network>choose interface>Advanced>Proxies Tab, make sure none are set, like for HTTP & HTTPS.

But in my case no-one proxy is set :/

In that case I'd contact whoever is responsible for that streaming site. Something about it is not communicating with Safari. It's probably related to Cloudflare.

If you are morbidly curious you might try enabling Safari's Develop menu, and select Show Web Inspector. It will readily identify the page components that are "timing out"... but you won't be able to do anything about it. Only its developer can do that.

Use the developer tools in the Develop menu in Safari on Mac

That message indicates an issue with the website behind Cloudflare, and not a problem with your client.

Your Mac is working, Safari is working, the website behind Cloudflare just doesn’t want to work for you.

As a potential work-around, clear cookies and saved data.

Disable Private Relay too, if that’s enabled.

I’d remove all of the add-on security apps, and networking apps, including Tor, remove all Safari extensions, and the remove whatever other add-on cleaners and accumulated add-on security apps here. Restart through Safe Mode, too. And unfortunately, sometimes extracting these add-on apps can be problematic.

FWIW, the Cloudflare docs are pointing pretty solidly at a website error:

https://community.cloudflare.com/t/community-tip-fixing-error-502-504-bad-gateway/44008

https://developers.cloudflare.com/support/troubleshooting/cloudflare-errors/troubleshooting-cloudflare-5xx-errors/

Per that, the website is seemingly failing (with Safari), and it's getting displayed to you via Cloudflare.

So. I read the entire page you provided me with. In vain, the site I am trying to access still does not work on Safari. I just installed Brave and it doesn't work either.. I'm stuck using Chrome again :/

To do the test I also installed Mozilla and Tor. that doesn't work either. It only works on Chrome.

Note that I can access it from Safari on my iphone. I'm lost.

What I don't understand is that a few months ago I could access it from Safari.

I put a screenshot of the page.
