Menu bar item missing to arrange windows

Just to add, Magnet is available in the App Store.

I would guess you were using either Magnet or Rectangle Pro.

Interesting... in testing this, I discovered something that I never knew: I can even just leave the cursor over the green button (not clicking anything) and after a second or so the menu appears. Maybe it has always worked that way, I just don't know (I only rarely use this feature, so it is quite possible it has long been there).

Does leaving the pointer there also not work for you?

FWIW, It goes back at least as far as Monterey.

I wonder if you may still have remnants of that third party software and that is affecting that functionality.

Use the “additional text” button and paste the report into the text box.

It is probably just a matter of going to System Settings->Dock & Menu Bar and checking what you want to appear in the menu bar and/or Control Center.

That is the green button on the window itself. Just click and hold:

I also get the menu while hovering over the green button. FWIW I lost a lot of Menu Bar icons after upgrading to Sonoma. I’m slowly discovering what they were to add back. Bluetooth and Siri vanished. I don’t recall one like that though. You can still click on Window in the Menu Bar to move the window left or right of screen

Searching “menu bar” in Settings showed all the icons I could set up too. When I look at my older MBA 2019, the Menu Bar icons weren’t removed. Possibly because my newer one has the notch and some can get hidden under it. I don’t have that many though.

I had this issue as well after updating to Sonoma. Turns out it was the default background for Sonoma has clouds that make it hard to see the Menu Bar strip at the top. It is there - just semi-hidden. Hopefully this saves someone else from making an embarassing call to Apple Support.
