Aperture 3 Vault Restore issues

I recently had an internal hdd failure in my MBP. I am currently waiting on my replacement hdd, but I used a friends mac to access my vault because there were some time sensitive issues at hand.

While trying to "restore" the library via the aperture vault, it said that it failed to restore because the vault was created with an earlier version of Aperture. Then it gave me the option to "import" the photos. Then it gave me a library error saying that it was not able to find all the files necessary.

So, my question is - what do I need to do to get my photos back?! I can find the masters in the finder, so I know my photos are not lost, but I would REALLY like to avoid re-editing and re-organizing my entire library...
