I'm receiving text messages from random numbers on my iPhone

From some brief Internet searching and reading, apparently many of these texts from odd numbers are actually sent from email addresses, not phones. I have read that you can block email-generated texts if using Verizon. I don't know if AT&T has that or not. However, there are valid texts from non-phone numbers that you will want to get, like a multi-factor verification code sent by your bank when logging in, so it might not be possible to block the spam without blocking valid texts. There is a special place in Hades for spammers and hackers and the sooner they get to go there, the better.
