Apple Watch battery issue after update
Why is my Apple Watch’s battery go down so fast after the update? I used to charge every 4 days and now I have to charge it everyday. This started right after the new update.

The latest update with the bug fix regarding the battery issue is not helping at all, in fact, my watch battery now drains faster than ever before and I’m having to charge it every day and a half. I wish I could take back the last two updates…

Mine is doing the same. Also I am not getting a low battery notification like I used to.
It just goes dark, no warning. The update doesn't allow a quick check of remaining battery like it used to.
Would prefer to undo the update.
Same issue. I have the Apple Watch 5 and just updated last night to iOS 10.0.1. This morning I had 74% battery and went for a 2-hour walk. The watch was dead by the end of the walk. This just started today. Yes tracking exercise is a significant drain on the battery, but I've never had it die after 2 hours of walking. Something seems off with this iOS update.
Hello juyoung81,
At maximum battery capacity the Apple Watch SE will be expected to get 18 hours of battery life. This page can help provide info: Apple Watch SE (2nd generation) - Technical Specifications
If the device is receiving considerably lower battery life than that, it may be helpful to try restarting both the Apple Watch and the iPhone it's paired to:
Restart Apple Watch - Apple Support
Restart your iPhone - Apple Support
Be sure to also check for any available iOS and watchOS updates on the iPhone and Apple Watch. That'll ensure they're using the latest improvements/fixes: Update your Apple Watch - Apple Support
If you're still having issues you may use this link to reach out to Apple Support for additional investigation: Apple Support
Cheers.
I have an apple watch 7 and since the last update my battery will be fully charged to dead in 2 to 3 hours. It heats up so much while charging it takes for ever for it to even charge. It doesn't do any good to have a watch if you can't charge it or wear it all day. Where is the fix for this?!
I’m having the same issue. Wouldn’t charge past 77% last night. I wore it to sleep and it was dead by the time I woke up. Charged it when I woke up, got it to 100%. Been laying in bed since putting it back on (2 hours ago) and it’s already down to 37%.
Same issue. Apple Watch 6. After this last update the watch can be on the charger and will not go past 70%. I removed it from the charger and without wearing it the charge dropped to 38% in about 30-40 minutes. Prior to update I could go all day of heavy use and only be down to about 75%. Something definitely wrong with this last update causing extreme battery drain. Even when not wearing it is getting hot.
Mine did this too what Apple suggested after finding out I had 3rd party watch face apps is to delete apps and faces off watch and phone restart both and put full charge on them. I no longer have battery drain and overheating when charging issues hope it helps
my Apple watch 7 used to show 25-40% battery life after 24 hours now it’s dying in less than 24 hours. This is not acceptable. The IOS 10 update also requires a lot more swipes to use functions than it previously did. I want IOS 9 back. IOS 10 is unacceptable.
Mine is the same. No low battery warning. It just goes black before the day is over. I never had a problem with my battery draining before the day was over. This all started after the last update. Apple please fix this!!! It’s very frustrating!
I received the update to 10.2 hoping it would fix the catastrophic effects of 10.1 but my watch died in 3 hours!!! It is so frustrating that Apple has not fixed this huge problem. These watches cost 300 to 800 dollars and they last 3 hours!! Get your crap together!!!
From what I have learned if you have third party apps ie watch faces not offered by Apple itself you are better off to delete the app until the third party developer does updates to its apps. I had this issue so I deleted third party watch face apps off my phone and watch restarted both iPhone and iwatch and presto it’s fixed. Please know I spent a lot of time on phone with apples specialty department this solution came about when I asked about my third party app for custom watch faces this was back in September I have not had battery issues or overheating issues since the third party app was not compatible with current iOS so if nothing else try if if it doesn’t solve issue you have nothing lost since you can redownload those apps
I don’t use any other Apple Watch face app. I use the stock face that Apple Watch app suggests. Even with the updates with the bug fix that came out two separate times since the first update that started to drain my battery, it hasn’t improved at all.
My battery is draining before the day ia over ever since the update a few days ago!
