Will the iWork Pages file password saved on a computer, for example, also be available on iPhone

I noticed that when I enter the password for the iWork Pages file on my computer, the iPhone does not see the password. The password is saved in the keychain. iCloud is turned on. Keychain sync enabled on every device. Same Apple ID. Browser passwords work correctly.

Is this correct?

Pages will reference the Mac keychain to resolve any password on a Pages document in your user account on the Mac. If you told it to remember that password in the Keychain when you set it. Otherwise, and anywhere else, there should be a password challenge as you are not opening it on your Mac in the same user account and without a Mac keychain entry to reconcile against.

Thank you for your response.

I don't understand why remembering keychain passwords works this way for a Pages document. If I enter a password for a file on my computer and after some time I forget it and then the computer crashes. Then I will lose access to this file even though I have an iPhone with the same AppleID. There is no such problem with website passwords.

I found in the Apple documentation that this is actually how it works:

Use iCloud Drive with Pages on Mac – Apple Support (UK)

"If you add a password to a document on one device, it’s required to open the document on all your devices."

Maybe it is safe, but if someone did not want to share this password for their other devices, then they would not use TuchID or FaceID.
