IPadOS 17 doesn’t remember Stage Manager on an external display

I have iPad Pro with M1 and iPadOS 17.0.3. I connect an external display with USB-C cable. Everything works fine, except - I have to turn on Stage Manager on that external display I connect to it, every time I wake the iPad from sleep.

I have to every time go to Settings > DIsplay & Brightness > Arrangement, or to Multitasking & Gestures > External Display, and say I want to extend, not mirror.

So annoying. Anyone has a fix? Or is it just this display? I have also a Studio downstairs, this one is a generic UHD LG, but I think it should not matter.

Well I have an update - I tried it with Apple Studio Display and it worked, then with another LG 4k display and it was fine, and my son uses his iPad Air M1 with LG UltraFine and says it works fine; so it seems to be just this other LG HDR 4K display (and cable?) which is causing the issue.

This was working completely normal for me until iPad. OS 17. Now when I plug in to an external monitor, it will not save my desktop setting and continually reverts the external monitor to mirroring. I tried every option to see if I could save it a different way to no avail. Here’s to hoping that this guest gets fixed because stage manager is just getting better and better. My entire work set up is my iPhone and my iPad in desktop setting. It’s a great set up, if only I didn’t have to change my external monitor setting every time I unplugged it!
