Controller issues iOS 17?

I have been having issues and everything is up to date on my iPhone 13 Pro and my controllers. I have tried a Bluetooth controller, the steel series nimbus + and the backbone controller that connects via the lightning port. I have even returned the backbone and tried a new one and the same issue happens. All ports are clean.

issue:

all controllers connect just fine and work for a moment. Could be from 5 min to 30min before the issue happens.

while using a controller all of a sudden the buttons and joysticks become unresponsive and ends up messing me up in a game. But once I just tap my phone screen I regain control. The issue happens again every so often.

Ive been using the controller with snake.io +, Brotato premium, and Stardew valley
