How can I pick what to transfer to my new iPhone without creating a new Apple ID and losing all purchases and subscriptions

I have far too many pictures and apps on my old iPhone. I want to be able to pick what to move over such as some app data and Contacts and such. However, it doesn’t seem there’s a way to do it without moving absolutely everything or deleting stuff from my iCloud back up. Is there an app that I can download to do this easily or Any other way to do it?

Hi Ashpern92,

You are correct in that when transferring your data to a new iPhone, you can't select what data to move. To do this, you follow your related article Transfer data from your previous iOS or iPadOS device to your new iPhone or iPad.

Your option of creating a new Apple ID could work as you can use Family Sharing to share your purchases with your current Apple IDSet up Family Sharing.

Another option would be after transferring your data, to turn off the iCloud features you don't want to use off of your new iPhone. In doing this, you will be asked if you want the data to stay on your iPhone or be deleted. Remember that iCloud is a syncing tool, so if you leave iCloud on for both devices, what you do to one, happens on the other. So if you delete photos on your new device without turning off iCloud Photos first, they will delete from your original device and iCloud as well. Learn more here:

Hope this helps.

Take care.
