Menu Bar on iMac 27 turns red

My wife also has has an iMac 5K, 27 inch 2020 16 GB. This same problem started after updating Adobe Creative Cloud to 6.1.0.587 when opening a pdf but it is an intermittent issue. Her system has the current OS Mac OS Sanoma 14.3.1 and her system came with AMD Radeon Pro 5300 with 4 GB of memory. She doesn't use Safari or Lightroom so I don't have any details as far as they go. Her situation would point to a software bug given I updated her OS after she updated Adobe and discovered the issue.

I also have the issue on an iMac Pro. I think it has to do with GPU memory utilization. I mostly only see it when mine is sitting at 95%+ utilization. - This is using a tool like iStat menus to monitor it.

This is just my guess.

My wife updated Adobe Creative Cloud to 6.1.0.587 and I updated the OS to Mac OS Sanoma 14.3.1 . It really looks to me like an OS bug of some sort, the system does this menue bar colour switch intermittently all day while working. If she clicks on it the red/pink colour stays but eventually turns grey again.

I am having this problem too on my 2019 27" iMac. the Apple logo and the menu text all disappears. The menubar icons on right stay. If I switch applications, the menus comes back with grey background, but then it happens again. It looks like this (image attached)

Would also like to confirm if anyone is having Tooltips popup with names of mounted drives and folders?

These are popping up with black backgrounds over areas of the screen where input fields or buttons are located. Safari is a culprit but so are other applications that have input fields.

To rule out one app... is anyone with this issue also using GeekTool by any chance?

I noticed this recently, when sitting idle, and after waking my 2019 MacBook pro. Today I had a force close open on my screen saying i was close to maximum memory usage. However, my memory spec is significantly higher than open apps where utilizing.

I have the same issue, 2020 iMac 27” after Sonoma upgrade, while using Adobe Lightroom Classic 13.1., menubar goes red on occasion when switching into Develop module.

Seems to happen under high load. If I have lots of tabs open in Safari, for example.

I do have lots of ram (40GB)

Just an addendum to my Nov 23 2023 post, above. Problem persists at times, 2020 iMac 27" with AMD Radeon Pro 5700 8 GB and 64GB RAM.

My wife doesn't use it.
