Any plans to bring back the battery operated mouse or keyboard?

I spent the better part of yesterday waiting for my keyboard to charge.T oday, (looking at her watch) it has now been 2-3 hours of charging time for the Apple mouse(starting at 12%) and has now, by early afternoon charging has reached 64%. It is plugged into a charger directly connected to an outlet using a brand new cable. My very old battery run Apple Wireless Trackpad has stepped into the breach, and kept me going.

Had I known when I bought this new computer, how much time it was going to take to charge both devices, I would have kept both the keyboard and mouse that ran on simple, easily available, batteries.

Yes, I appreciate the lessening of batteries heading toward landfills. But seriously? Hours with no keyboard or mouse because no Imagineer thought a red light could help warn us to plug the device in overnight? Gee, where can I send my resume...

I had a similar thought about charging my magic mouse and magic keyboard when I bought my most recent iMac. but after a few weeks, I have learned that I can go for two weeks before my mouse reaches 50% charge remaining. and my keyboard lasts about 4 weeks to get to 50% charge remaining. so I now start watching my charge remaining after about two weeks of run time. when my mouse gets to ~ 50% charge remaining, I plug the charge cable in when I go to bed, and it's fully charged when I wake up the next morning. I need not worry about charging the mouse when I need to be using it. and, of course, I can charge my keyboard while it is in use.

I don't know, they keep releasing "anniversary editions" of various calculators...

In any case, I thought it might make the OP feel better that he has done something.

(Besides, HP does not need to release a new version of its classic calculator, most are still working! I still use my 38 year old HP-71 as my daily calculator.)

That mouse's battery is no good. It should take two or three hours at most to charge the battery to 100%. Then, it should last for several weeks.

Throw it out. And you thought batteries heading toward landfills was a bad idea.

Fortunately the old original Magic Mouse with its outdated relic inexpensive replaceable batteries are readily available on the used market at reasonable prices.

You don't have to use Apple's mouse and keyboards. If you're that dissatisfied, Amazon, Newegg and others sell them by the millions.

One lesson I learned many years ago; always have a standby USB mouse and keyboard. Search this community and you'll find numerous posts advising just that.

My current USB mouse and keyboard set was $11US from Amazon. Works good; lasts long time.
