I have an old iMac which I have erased the hard drive and am now trying to re-install the OS.
It is installing Yosemite
I have selected it from the recovery menu, go through all of the security to connect to the App store.
It says its downloading but when it restarts it comes back to the recovery menu without anything being installed.
I have checked the disk with the disk utility and it is not showing any errors.
Not sure what I am doing wrong.

Did you resetting NVRAM?
Time is correct?(You can see current time at Recovery mode menu > Utilities > Terminal.app, then type in "date")
Your iMac is connected Internet via WiFi?
Your format type is Extended Journaling?
Hi kaz-k I had a session with Apple and they suggested creating a bootable installer so I download El Capitane but it would not let me run the installation to create the install file because I have Ventura as my OS. Is there a way around this?

What is the significance of resetting NVRAM and ensuring that the time is correct. What difference does it make?

I have now also reset NVRAM and check the date and time are correct and it still does not work.
Any other suggestions?
