Location meanings

If a persons location is live then it says no location then shows live again then back to no location found does that mean they were active on their phone while live and not active when not found?

Hello Skylar_who,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities and for sharing these details with us. Allow us to share some information with you. If specific locations are not being marked when trying to locate a friend, this might be linked to a possible drop with Wi-Fi or nearby cellular towers. This is needed to track friends and use Find My. More details are explained here: Turn Location Services and GPS on or off on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Location Services uses GPS and Bluetooth (where they're available), along with crowd-sourced Wi-Fi hotspots and cellular towers to determine the approximate location of your device.

Also, just in case, this resource explains another possible scenario this might occur: Find people and share your location with Find My - Apple Support

Only one person can use Precision Finding to get directions to someone's location at a time. If you don't see Find Nearby for a person that you're sharing location with, someone else might already be trying to find them. You might want to wait a little while, then try again.

We hope this helps out. Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
