Hello EmmaES777,

This page can assist with providing some helpful details regarding the iPhone getting warm: If your iPhone or iPad gets too hot or too cold - Apple Support

Your device might get warm
You might notice that your device feels warmer when you:
• Set up your device the first time
• Restore from a backup
• Wirelessly charge your device
• Use graphics-intensive or processor-intensive apps, games, or features, including augmented-reality apps
• Stream high-quality video
These conditions are normal, and your device will return to a regular temperature when the process is complete or when you finish your activity. If your device doesn't display a temperature warning, you can keep using your device.

As the page will help to note, it can be normal for the device to feel warmer for the first few days after setting it up for the first time, or after restoring from a backup. If it's being wirelessly charged this can also cause it to feel warm as well.

Be sure to also ensure it's using the latest iOS version (currently iOS 17.0.3), as that'll ensure the latest improvements are applied: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Cheers.
