This is very frustrating… I’ll be working outside now I g lawn with my iPhone 14 pro max in pocket playing pandora and my AirPods gen 3 will pause all the time. What is the fix for this cause this is ridiculous for AirPods that are designed for working out, whatever and when phone in pocket they constantly pause!! This is a huge disappointment on Apple part!!

Please check this article which shows static as a possible symptom of interference: Resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues caused by wireless interference - Apple Support
This might be specific to the area you are in. Move away and see if it stops occurring. Also, see if you can identify other things in your area that may be causing it. This includes things in your pocket with the phone, as well as AC units, other speakers or audio equipment, metal roofing, etc.
"Avoid physical obstructions in the path of your wireless signal. For example, a metal surface between your Bluetooth mouse and computer could cause the mouse to perform poorly, and a metal-reinforced concrete floor between your Wi-Fi router and Wi-Fi device could cause poor Wi-Fi performance.

That is definitely not it. I can use my beats ear buds no issue, I put AirPods in and above happens no matter where I am with phone in pocket
