Table of contents - how to change default colour & border

When I insert a Table of Contents on Mac, it comes up with a blue background and red border. It's stuck on a default colour choice from previous use. How do I change the default settings for the Table of Contents so it's neutral and without the fancy background? Thank you.

Hey sallyk123,

If we understand correctly, you want to change the table gridline colors. We would recommend you use this article for more information.

  1. "Click the table, then in the Format  sidebar, click the Table tab.
  2. Do any of the following:
    • Change the outline: In the Table Outline section of the sidebar, use the controls to change the line type, thickness, and color.
    • Change the gridlines: In the Gridlines section of the sidebar, click the buttons to show or hide gridlines from the table body, from the header rows and columns, and from footer rows."

That doesn’t work for the TOC which seems to work differently from tables. I discovered that it was linked to the page I was working on and past defaults that applied to that page only. When I copied the text to a new page it worked fine. Weird that it was still applying the old colours/border instructions. So sorted now. Thank you.
