how do I clean up my mac

My mac is now very slow and I will like to clean it up and reset the system

The first thing I'd do is boot into Safe Mode and see if it behaves differently. Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support


Next, I'd want to have some idea which apps might be causing the sluggish operation. The best means any of us here can tell from would be via an Etrecheck report. It's available here: https://etrecheck.com/en/index.html. It's a safe app written by a longtime contributor to these Community Help discussions.


When you install the app, please give it full disk access so we'll be able to glean all the necessary information. Then run the report...copy it to the Clipboard, then paste it into the Additional Text section (third icon from the right in the Reply window).


We'll be happy to examine it and offer our suggestions.
