Ever since I updated to Sonoma I cannot print PDF files in Adobe Acrobat. No connection with the printer can be established. Acrobat Distiller opens and freezes. Need to force quit Acrobat and Distiller. I have the most recent printer driver installed. I encounter no problems printing from InDesign or Illustrator. Anyone else has this problem and/or the solution?

I solved this problem by updating Acrobat, but not via Creative Cloud. (CC probably says your software is Up-to-date). Follow these steps:

I just chatted with an Adobe help person. I don't know if this will work for you, but it worked for me. I was getting an error that said "Distiller Shut Down Unexpectedly" whenever I tried to print any PDF.
When you try to print, open the print dialogue box from Cmd+P and click on Advanced>Check the option "Print as Image" and then try to print and check if this works.
If it works, you're all set. That option will always be checked.
So there are a million "Me Too"s. Anyone have a solution? I've been having this problem a long time. When I try to print a pdf from Acrobat Pro CC version, I get a spinning ball, then this message "Distiller suddenly quit. Click Reopen to open the application again. Click Report to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple."
After the error, I have to force quite Acrobat.
I have uninstalled, reinstalled, searched and installed any available updates. Still having the problem.
To be clear. I am not trying to run postscript through Distiller. Just print a plain old PDF.
