Customer receipt using PayPal as processor and ApplePay as method of payment

We are attempting to implement Apple PayPal on PayPal on website i.e. our payment processor is PayPal but PayPal now supports ApplePay so the customer selects Apple Pay on website.

Question 1: When customer is emailed a sale receipt what must the tender say on the receipt?

I guess these are the options

  • PayPal tender
  • ApplePay tender
  • Tender with card type (e.g. Visa, MC, Amex, Discover) on the stored card in ApplePay wallet

Question 2: Likewise if customer returns items in a physical store with the original sale receipt then what should the Associate see as the refund tender type. And what should the customer see on their customer refund receipt i.e. what should the tender type say?

Note: Are the card brands happy that their brand is being diluted by ApplePay and PayPal as the customer is not seeing Visa, MC, Amex or Discover, CUP, etc any longer? Do they have strict requirements for Question 1 and Question 2.

iPhone 12, iOS 16
