@ntlworld.com email address won't be accepted on iPhone

My wife has bought an iPhone and successfully transferred all the data from her iPad apart from her@ntlworld.com email.

We’ve tried adding new it as new email address but it won’t accept it as it’s similar/same as an iCloud address she uses to access her Apple account.

Hi AWR1946,


Before trying to add this email account, check the accounts already listed in Settings > Mail > Accounts. The Apple ID should be labeled iCloud. Tap on the other accounts to make sure this email doesn't already exist.


If it doesn't exist, when tapping on Add Account, make sure you select Other and follow the information from Virgin Media here How to manage my Virgin Media email account.

Note: It looks like there is a special password to be able to access this email on an app. Ensure you are putting in the correct password and settings. If the password is the same as your Apple ID, you might want to consider changing one of them.

Hey AWR1946,


Although her Apple ID account is the same email address, you should still be able to add the main account to her iPhone. The Apple ID account is only used for Apple ID services and shouldn't keep you from adding that account.


If you're encountering an error when adding the email account as "Other", we recommend reaching out to the email service provider to look into this a bit more with you.
