There’s still a way to let you purchase a China T-union card with your existing cards. Just with much more steps and real-name verification needed.

  1. Download Alipay, one of leading e-payment app in China.
  2. Sign up.
  3. Done with the real-name verification.
  4. Link your card.
  5. Copy “NFC交通卡”(means NFC transit card) and choose the first result “NFC Traffic Card” under Mini-apps part. You may use the Translate button at the down left side when the page changed.
  6. All the cards you see are accepted at the transit with China T-union in over 300 cities in China mainland. You may refer Available regions of China T-union cards (kopisee.com).
  7. Just select a card. Personally, I recommend the Shanghai Public Transportation Card in red.
  8. Follow the instructions, agree some T&C and choose the amount you want to load. No refund available, so you may reload time by time.
  9. Pay with your credit/debit card linked.
  10. After payment done, the card is issued and wait for adding to your Wallet. Keep a good connection to Internet until the card added.
  11. According to the local policy, you may be asked to set up or update to a 6-digit passcode or more complicated. Don’t forget the passcode you set or you cannot unlock your iPhone!
  12. The card will soon added to your Wallet.
