Keyboard Layout

I have a logitech k780 for Mac. Everything works correctly but when I run parallels the nightmare begins. With all Mac OS apps, all the symbols match the physical keyboard layout. When I work on windows (parallels VM) the symbols do not match anymore for example "<" goes to the key of "\" and viceversa. Checked all parallels and windows settings because I was thinking there was the issue. Not at all. Then to be sure, I checked MacOS KB layout settings and there you go. As you could see in the screenshot, Apple applies the wrong layout ( < instead of \) even if this is not an Italian "qwerty" layout. Tried to cancel the Italian layout and set again. No way. Weird that keyboard works correctly on MacOS with a wrong layout.

Do you have any clue?

It is impossible to program in windows with this issue.

Thanks in advance

GG

I don't understand... you say Apple applies the wrong layout, but also that on all Mac applications the keyboard is working correctly....

FWIW, here is what I see when I select the Italian layout:

Note that I only have the built-in keyboard on my MBP, so maybe the difference is because you have a third party keyboard. Is there some Logitech software that drives this keyboard? Are there some settings you can control for it?

Luis and Tom

thanks a lot for your fast response. Much appreciated. Forgot to send you the image of an Italian k780.

What you see it's what you get in MacOS LOL

Keyboard works correctly. Indeed it's the "...for Mac" version.

If I go to windows settings I see all the Italian layouts (image below).

Parallels says that it "imports" the Mac layout. Changing layouts, tested all of three, does not affect behavior because the origin is dead wrong. As you could see, Luis, your Italian layout is different from mine (as Tom hinted).

Tom, there is a Logitech software but it has a few options and none of them for layouts.

If I try to reconfigure KB, when OS asks me to push the button on the very right of the SHIFT key, I get the popup "impossible to identify it" and then, I guess, it selects the Italian ANSI

Your hardware keyboard has an extra key next to Z and the vertical enter key, right?

If so, that's an ISO (European) keyboard. The picture shows the ANSI (US) keyboard, which is missing that key.

For some reason Windows thinks the keyboard is ANSI. A bit odd that the Mac does not. It's usually called a "keyboard type" problem. Have you checked Logitech support?

He says the keyboard works correctly (ISO) on his Mac, even though the icon in keyboard layouts is the wrong one (ANSI). It should look like yours (ISO). But when typing in Windows, his keyboard reverses the two keys at the top left and bottom left corners, which is typical of Windows thinking the keyboard is ANSI instead of ISO. Windows may have a setting someplace for ISO vs ANSI that would fix it, but I don't know Windows.
