Why does my dictation put in something completely different than what I say?

It happens every single time I dictate a message. I’ll say one thing and the illiterate, DEF, non-English-speaking dictation engine puts in something completely different. Like just now I said deaf. Dictation put in death and DEF. When I say something has to be done, dictation types Hass. I say tyranny and dictation types Tierney. I have punctuation off but it capitalizes words that shouldn’t be capitalized. There are words I say like cult and it puts in Colts. Anything I dictate, I have to actively inspect every word. This is new, only happening over the past 10 to 12 months. My old $35 refurbished piece of junk phone worked perfectly. I can’t stand it and for this alone I regret switching to iPhone from android. How can I fix this problem? Anyone?

Hi Dawnierose,

Since Dictation isn't working as expected on your iPhone, we recommend that you try the steps in the links below.

Dictate text on iPhone - Go to Settings > General > Keyboard and make sure "Enable Dictation" is on.

Restart your iPhone - If the setting was already on, turn it off. Then restart your iPhone. Once your iPhone is back to the Home screen, turn “Enable Dictation” back on, and see if you're able to dictate a message.

Please let us know the outcome after giving the above steps a try.
