Moving Mail to Trash; 2 different processes?

Hello Everyone! I have seen the light and come over to Apple from “the Dark” side. As a result I’m a bit of a neophyte when it comes to using Apple apps and I’m new to this Community.

Here’s my question:

When I’m in the Mail app and want to delete an email, I,do the following:

  1. Email I just read is open in the Mail app.
  2. I click the “Folder” icon at the top of the screen.
  3. When I click the “Folder” icon, I get one of 2 options:

A. I either get a a “pop-up” that displays my available email folders;

including my Trash folder.

B. I can immediately move the email directly to “Trash”

or…..

C. I get a 2nd “Move Message…”. When I click on this message, the

“pop-up” is displayed which shows my email folders; including my

Trash folder. I now can move the email to Trash.

Why do I have extra step of clicking the “Folder” icon then clicking the “Move Message…” on some emails but other emails I can move to Trash?

BTW…..my iPad is the 10th Gen. version. I use GMAIL as my email provider.

iPad, iPadOS 16
