Apple specifically cautions us not to place anything between the display and the keyboard:

"Leaving any material on your display, keyboard, or palm rest might interfere with the display when it's closed and cause damage to your display."

there are two reason you might want to install a screen protector on you PHONE:

one is that you might drop the display so that it hits a rock and cracks.

A: The MacBook Pro does not open far enough to drop on a rock and crack the screen.

the other is that you might damage the phone's touch-screen by touching it with something unusual.

A: the MacBook Pro is not a touch screen. Don't touch it with anything unusual, or for that matter, anything usual.

There is no reason to add anything to the surface of the screen on a MacBook Pro, and because it has a delicate anti-glare coming, it WILL be damaged by adding anything.

Don't.

Specifically, most screen protectors damage the anti-reflection coating on almost Mac notebook computers. For Retina models, the only effective repair is an entire new display assembly; the cost is in the range of US$500 to $650 for parts and labor. Will the maker of your screen protector pay for that repair?

In my opinion, there is no need to use a screen protector on any MacBook.

Unnecessary expense for no benefit.
