Couldn't get an app, had to change Apple id password. Didn't work!

Tried to get an app from apple store, told I had to change my password first. Did what instructions said, tried to download the app, was told I had to enter a 4 digit password - for what?? WHY? Went BACK to apple id, discovered it did NOT save my new password, and dumped the previous password. NOW WHAT? I DO NOT want to keep changing my passwords, I REALLY NEED to install this app for health reasons. please help!

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities. Have you used any other Apple ID in the past? Perhaps your App Store is using a different Apple ID. Check your Apple ID from Settings > [Your name]. Use Sign in with your Apple ID - Apple Support as a reference if needed.
