When can I buy a new iMac 27 inch?

I love the iMac 27 inch all in one computer. Mine is getting quite old and I would like to buy a new one. Why hasn't Apple brought them back to market? The 24 inch seems like a step backwards.

I don't want to have to go back to a Windows based machine when this one gives up.

As you've been told it doesn't appear if Apple is planning on an integrated 27" iMac any time in the future.

However, the Mac Mini + a 3rd party monitor is very affordable. I've looked at the combination and am considering a Mini (($1200) and a 32" monitor w/speakers for $300 - $450. The Studio monitor, IMO, is way over priced for general use.

There are 27" 5K displays from Apple, LG, and Samsung. All are expensive. For instance, by the time you buy a 27" 5K Apple Studio Display, Magic Keyboard, and Magic Mouse, you've spent about as much as it used to cost to buy a 27" 5K Retina iMac – except that you still have to buy the computer!

Given the large price difference between 4K and 5K displays, many people go for third-party 27" – 32" 4K displays, and use them in Retina "like 2560x1440" mode. The Mac draws on a 5K canvas and then downscales it to fit the 4K display.
