Have ratings been crippled with the latest update?

after upgrading my gear and happily using Sonoma, there‘s one problem that is really bugging me:

the music app seems to have been ridden of the album- and song-rating (when in playlist- or album-view?) Ratings seem to only be available when the library or playlist is displayed in list-view (or in the song‘s info-pane), is this really the new reality?

Check that Music > Preferences (Settings) > Show > Star Ratings is ticked. This preference may have been turned off during an upgrade. The song and album rating columns in list views are independent of that setting.

Hi David braun,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! We would recommend the steps below that can help:

Rate songs and other content in Music on Mac

Turn ratings on or off
1. In the Music app on your Mac, click Songs in the sidebar.
2. Choose View > Show View Options, then select Rating. If the checkbox is selected, ratings are turned on.
3. You can also choose Album Rating to turn on album ratings; an album rating is calculated by combining all the individual song ratings.

Give an item a rating
1. In the Music app  on your Mac, click Songs in the sidebar.
2. Move the pointer over the song you want to rate, then click or drag in the Rating column to add or remove stars.

Hope this helps!

Have a great day.

Hi Lissy

Thank you for replying.

Please read carefully. English isn't my mother tongue, so it may be a little more difficult to understand my point:

This actually does not help.

I know that I see the ratings in title-list-view (aka "Songs in the Sidebar"). I know that I can edit the ratings from there or in the info-pane of a track/Song.

I don't know how to rate a song (or an album) in Album-view, in Artist-View, or in Playlist-View...

As I almost never listen to music in Song-View-Mode, but almost always from Album-/-Artist-/Playlist- display, I really would love to be able to click on the star-rating and edit that info (my very own liking of the song being played), without further interaction like changing view-mode or opening the info.

I would like to know if there's a way to re-enable the display and edibility of album- and song-rating while in album-view, or from within a playlist ?

This seems to be something nobody is able to tell me?

Can you answer this question, please?

Thank you.
