“”Updating cards: Apple pay will be available when updates are complete” message kept popping up

I kept seeing the Updating Cards message when I want to use Apple Pay. It will work eventually after the update is completed, but it’s a nuisance if I was holding up the queue. I tried deleting & re-entering all my credit/interac cards; closed the wallet app & turned off and on the watch trick as mentioned in previous threads. Nothing worked. Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
