Accessories-Connecting Cables

I was using My Passport for Mac (USB 3.0 cable)to back up from Time Machine on my 2013 MacAir.

I just bought a MacAir M2(2022) and of course this cable cannot connect to the Thunderbolt Ports.

Question 1-What connecting cable do i need to purchase?

Question 2-Is there a Passport for Mac or similar with a Thunderbolt connection.

Doing an on-line search i discovered that I needed an USB-C to USB Adapter.

I ordered from the online Apple store and received it earlier today.

I have used it already to connect My Passport for Mac (USB 3.0 cable) to my new MacAir M2

and it worked perfectly.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities, it's great to have you here.

We were looking at the specifications for the WD My Passport however it does seem that there are several different models, so we were unable to determine for sure which version you are using. With that in mind, we'd like to recommend that you contact Western Digital directly. Since they are the manufacturer of this hard drive, they will be in a great position to help you determine the best cable to use for that drive and can also advise you on any newer models that they might have available.
