Apple Mail Says 3 Unread But None in Unread Folder

Not only that, but Gmail’s All Mail folder indicates 4 unread, which also could not be displayed.

So I went to the Gmail app, which did show all those unread messages. After opening them in Gmail, the iPhone Mail corrected.

So for some reason, iPhone Mail is not downloading all the messages but knows the correct number of unread or else did download them but is not able to display them.

If eMail Wont Sync Properly:

Use a New App Password:

Do you use an App Password? If so, try a new App Password. Sometimes, changes (i.e. updates) are made to the device, and then mail server syncing becomes an issue (which is what a new App Password it intended to fix). As an example, go here for gmail: Sign in with App Passwords - Google Account Help - Google

Check gmail Directly:

What do you see when you log in to gmail on a Web browser? Is it showing elsewise?
