How to Disable View and Control Live Activities on the Lock Screen

Just today both my iPhone and iPad (iOS 17.0.3 phone and iPad) started displaying the media player on the Lock Screen. I don’t like this because then I can’t get to the widgets I’ve put on the Lock Screen…I have to wake the phone up which defeats the purpose of Lock Screen widgets. I hate this! Can I turn it off? On my iPhone 15 I went to Settings > Face ID and Passcode > and switched off Live Activities. That didn’t work. I restarted the phone and it still didn’t work. Whatever media player I have open continues to dominate the Lock Screen. (Strangely now my wallpaper photo is gone from my Lock Screen… I tried turning Live Activities back on but it’s still gone)

I had the same issue with my favorite basketball team.

step 1, click on the notification that is on your Lock Screen. (Not the island on top)

Step 2, when it opens up, you may need to scroll down a pinch ,

step3, then click on the area that shows following.

step4, click it, that needs to be unchecked.

If you’ve done this correctly, the live activities will go away right before your eyes.

I hope this helps?

I also have exactly the same issue. Super annoying to change the volume or the channel of the Apple TV just because of a missclick on the iPhone Lock Screen. Just want to fully disable live activities widget from the Lock Screen and all the advices about Settings does not work. Can we get help or are we identifying an iOS bug right here?
