Mac mini backup folder won't upload to google drive

I have been using my Samsung T5 2TB drive for my 2018 Intel i7 mac mini for the last 2 years for storing video files and for backing up.

I want to upload the recent backup folder to google drive, but nothing happens when I try to upload , as it just hangs and doesn't initiate the upload.

All other files upload, such as video and photo files.

Anyone have suggestions?

Start with this...

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes or more.

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.
