Image capture on my mac air doesn’t show photos on iphone 12 pro . But opens iphone. What can I do? Please help me

Image Capture on Mac doesn't show last HEIC image [Image Capture] I've noticed for some time (even now on latest macOS 26.1) that Image Capture refuses to show the last HEIC image captured on my iPhone 13 mini. Image Capture Version 8.0 (1106) iOS 18.6.2 macOS Tahoe 26.1 MacBook Air M2 (2022) Lightning to USB-C/Thunderbolt cable The behaviour has been evident for some time on earlier iOS and macOS versions. The missing IMG_1009.HEIC should be between IMG_1008.MOV and IMG_E1010.JPG (the screenshot I just took to show the missing photo) ... There should be the last photo I took (the piggybacked EPROMs in the EPROM reader), but it usually doesn't show up. I usually have to try a few things to get it to magically appear: restart Photos on my phone and then re-plug my phone in via cable will sometimes work, otherwise I have jump through other hoops to get it on my Mac. Image Capture will show that photo eventually, but it takes some coaxing - this seems to be a bug ... ?

Are you certain you need Image Capture to accomplish this?

Here's an Apple Support article on how to transfer photos from an iPhone to Mac: Transfer photos and videos from your iPhone or iPad to your Mac or PC - Apple Support

All you should need to do is connect your iPhone to your Mac, then go to Photos on your Mac and import them.

This would be much easier, of course, if you're able to use iCloud Photos, as described in the same link above.
