Hyperlinks still show as visited after clearing Safari browser history on macOS Sonoma

In macOS Ventura, using the Clear History... command changes the color on all URLs to unread (i.e., normally blue). In macOS Sonoma and Safari (v17.0) this is no longer the case, and if URLs point to visited sites, the color does not revert indicate unread. Is this a bug and is there a known workaround? Thanks for any info,

Daniel

I'm not sure why Clear History would do that. If you want a more thorough method I would think using "Manage Website Data" would be a better way.

Safari > Settings > Privacy > Manage Website Data. Then choose "Remove All".

This will remove all cookies and website data which should achieve the read/unread status you mention.

However, just be aware that it will remove all login data for all websites so you'll have to re-login. Can be a pain if you use 2-factor authentication.

Thanks for your response. Clear history should do that because you are in effect telling it to forget you visited the sites pointed out by the links. If you want to take screen shots with the links in blue, for documentation purposes, for example, then that was a very easy way to accomplish it. The fact is that Clear History did it perfectly well before Sonoma, so I suspect it's a bug. I do not want to use remove all because of all the drawbacks you mention. Again, thanks for responding.
