Hi Brickman61,

Was this deleted number saved as a contact? If so, and if you were saving your contacts to iCloud, you can restore deleted contacts by following Restore contacts stored in iCloud on iCloud.com.

If the contact was saved, but under a different email account, contact the email provider for help with possible recovery.

Contacts do not save in a backup as they are associated with an account such as iCloud. This is the same for messages. If Messages in iCloud is turned on, it does not save it in a backup. Your call logs are saved in backups, however, to retrieve a backup means to erase everything on the phone and restore the backup in its entirety. Any data between the date of the backup and now will be lost. While it is an option, you have the potential to lose data in the process. If you want to go down this path, follow:

    1. Erase iPhone
    2. Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

As it's a phone number, an alternative you can try is contacting your wireless carrier to see if they have a call log available to you.

Hope this helps.

Take care.
