My phone will only send text messages through my icloud email and I've tried to fix it by going to messages > send & receive but my phone number does not show up as an option, then I tried deleting my number from my icloud and re-adding it but when I tried I never got the text message with the confirmation number.
Try this:
Sign in to your Apple ID account page and edit / update your Apple ID details -> https://appleid.apple.com
Then try again to send a text message.
