is the homepod room sensitive?

I have three HomePod minis. Each in a different room, Living Room, Bedroom and Basement. Each device is labeled for its room. I have ceiling lamps in the rooms. If I'm in the bedroom and say, "Siri, turn on the lamp". I would expect that room's lamp to turn on. Instead, it may either not turn anything, say such a device doesn't exist, or multiple lights are turn on.

From this, I gather they are not "room sensitive". Can someone confirm that for me?

If so, will there be improvements to make that work.

Hello lazloman,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. The way you control your home using HomePod is by using commands. You'll need to say the name of the accessory you're trying to control or say the specific room you're in. The best approach to take is to review the public steps listed here: Control your home on HomePod - Apple Support

Control accessories using HomePod
* Control a single accessory: Say a command using the name you gave the accessory in the Home app. For example, say “Hey Siri, turn on the porch light.”
* Control accessories in a room: Say, for example, “Hey Siri, turn off the lights in here” to control the accessories that are in the same room as HomePod. Say something like “Hey Siri, turn off the lights in the bedroom” to specify another location.

We hope this helps out. Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Take care.
