Live Text from photos taken with Canon DSLR no longer working, worked prior to macOS Sonoma?

I've been trying to get Live Text to work with Photos I've Taken from my Canon 90D DSLR and then uploaded directly to my Mac Studio. Previously until MacOS Sonoma, this feature would work just fine with all of my Canon Pics that had text. I do have "Live Text" selected in Languages.

When I hover my mouse/cursor over the text that I want to extract from any photo, I only get a crosshair option and not the option to click, drag, and copy the text. I currently get the blue dot with an askew double arrow cursor when I try to copy/drag.

Once I updated to Sonoma 14.0, the Live Text feature has not worked at all. This feature will work on Safari for me, but not for my pictures. I take a lot of product photos for my eBay Store where I could capture the text and paste in my online business' product listings. Live Text has saved me a good amount of time in the past as I do my daily work.

Any ideas on how to get this feature to work again? Thank you.

The support article seems to indicate it should just be on all the time. Only thing I can think of is to Restart.

There isn't anything live about the text in the photo. It is the app recognizing text in the photo that makes it live.

I tried in Preview and Photos and I can easily recognize text in the photographs. I can't find any settings to enable or disable it, so I'm not sure why it isn't working.

Hi Barney,

Thank you for your input. Unfortunately, I’m still having no luck. I cannot extract any text — copy text from my pics — from any picture like I used to before upgrading to Sonoma 14.0. It’s just not working for me no matter how I try.

Hey Barney,

I would agree to check that out except that the pictures that I’ve been using to do this have been pictures I’ve been using since the last MacOS. Nothing has changed with the way the pictures have been taken or uploaded. Everything was fine up until the update for Sonoma. Actually, taking text from pics has only worked twice for me. It’s been a very rare occurrence that it has worked in Sonoma. It would work on one photo and, then when I go to the next picture and hundreds of more pictures, it stops working completely. Pre-Sonoma, taking text from any picture from my Canon would work flawlessly every single time.

Is it only files from that camera? Maybe it uses something like the quicklook importer or other magic to read the text and it doesn't understand that file format.
