Apple is rather secretive about things, so since you are asking the community, we don’t really know. Barely anyone uses the app anymore and if there was going to be a huge update it probably would’ve already happened. There is already filters built in the default camera app so I do not see why Apple would invest in building an app that is practically dead.
This is my educated opinion, and it may not be correct, but this what I believe would be most logically likely.
