Adding Anniversaries to Calendar.

I know from years ago explanations, the way to add Anniversaries to my calendar is to add another entity to the calendar. Name it Jack&Jill Anniversary, then put the Anniversary date in the Birthday placeholder. It will pop up annually stating

Jack&Jill Anniversary Birthday

For the all powerful Apple, seems a viable but crude ‘workaround’.

The question is, is this the only way to get annual Anniversaries to show up across my Apple devices, short of buying yet another app? Seems Apple could just duplicate the code for birthdays and use it for Anniversaries.

Thanks in advance,

-les
