How to keep a phone number from a company iPhone?

Help! I have been using a company phone for more than 15 years and am now retiring. I want to keep the phone number, as it is my only one and is tied to a bajillion of my accounts. Management says they are willing, but can't because it is tied to the company's Apple ID and they've been told it can't be uncoupled. Any suggestions?

I have never heard of a phone number being "tied" permanently to an Apple ID. If something like that has been done then you will need to contact the company and/or the telephone service provider. Generally you can just change the telephone number associated with an account.

To edit your list of trusted items go to the section: About trusted phone numbers and trusted devices in the document Two-factor authentication for Apple ID - Apple Support

To see, add, or change your trusted phone numbers:

- On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Go to Settings > your name > Password & Security. Next to Trusted Phone Number, tap Edit.

- On a Mac: Choose Apple menu  > System Settings (or System Preferences), then click your name (or Apple ID). Click Password & Security, then add or remove a trusted phone number.

- In a web browser: Go to the Account Security section of https://appleid.apple.com/

That's correct, a company cannot just release a company telephone number.

And yes, that number is linked to the company Apple ID - @company.com

There is no way to avoid it.

At our company they also do not 'give out' the company telephone number to employees who are leaving the company.

Look for / visit a carrier, take a subscription, postpaid or prepaid card.

Check whether the SIM card is suitable for your iPhone.

Hopefully you have an carrier unlocked iPhone.
