Speed just while saving regular documents incredibly degraded after macOS Sonoma update

Hi, since I updated to Mac OS Sonoma on my 2021 27" i7 3.8 Ghz 8-core with 16gb AMD radeon 5700 and 128GB 2133 MHz DDR4 - (so I do not think it is hardware!) it takes a good 3-5 minutes to save any document type: word, excel, .pdf, jpeg, either on my HD or in Dropbox - the machine does not freeze completely during the save process - I can still work in other apps - but the 'save' or 'save as' has ground to a halt in Sonoma (now 14.0).

Any suggestions on how to correct this annoying Apple hangover? Many thanks.

Our IT department traced this to iCloud sync. For some reason Sonoma update put sync on and when I turned it back off (as this is work computer) problem rectified itself. This was, for me, an easy solutions but if you want and need to have the iCloud sync on (e.g. in personal computer) this obviously doesn't help in that case.

There seems to be random problems people have with Sonoma that most do not.

This appears to be another. I've not had any problem saving files of any type on Sonoma.

Most of these problems have boiled down to some other software that isn't compatible cause obscure problems.

Are you using DropBox or OneDrive? DropBox is the source of another problem on Sonoma, but since it is a saving thing, I threw in OneDrive, too.

Experiencing this too, "Save as" in any app just doesn't work which is very frustrating. Yesterday I installed Sonoma again and by magic everything worked... for about half a day and now I'm back to square one.

Also Finder seem to start for 10 minutes before it comes up and is extremely sluggish. An even removing a small file, eg. 100kt picture "moving to bin" takes 30ish seconds.
