I cannot get passed the login page due to mouse control key

If you are talking about 789uiojkl not working because Mouse Keys is turned on, get an extended keyboard with a numpad on it and connect it to your machine. Mouse Keys will only affect the numpad, so you can log in and turn it off.

Please describe the "mouse control key"; the Apple Magic Mouse has no keys. If it is a Bluetooth type you can disconnect it in BT settings.

If your Keyboard is not typing certain characters, it may be malfunctioning. have you tried a different KB? Maybe a wired USB.
