It appears FCP.co has shut down

As of today, FCP.co is redirecting directly to idustrialrevolution.com. Articles and forums on fcp.co are no longer accessible (unless you go to archive.org for the articles.)

I don't know what to say other than I will miss it.

Yepp, Peter has pulled 'the kill switch' (his words) to the web's biggest independent board/forum about FCPX. Very sad. Especially the forum with very helpful souls will be missed. And, selfish as I am, the FREE plug-ins are puff!gone.

Conc. the blog-post: worked for me 'til 5:30GMT, now a 404…

Guess, we will read a more elaborated reply from Peter in the near future.-

Great stuff... hahaha. Honesty after having a look at fcp.cafe its pretty good. OK it seems a little more rigid in terms of its flow and graphic presentation, but considering what seems to be the background of the people involved it's logical. In any case it'll have to do for now...

Its my new place...at the moment.

Hi Folks

I too was surprised and sad to see fcp.co shut down. Lots of great info and the forums were great. Sent Peter a message thanking him for fcp.co for all these years.

I also want to extend thanks to all of the fcp.co contributors Thank You All.

When I go to the old URL for fcp.co, I get redirected to IdustrialRevolution site. There is a link to Peter's article that BenB posted.

I imagine that some folks are getting 404s from web browser cache, maybe??

I took a look at the WebArchive and most of fcp.co is there including FoxM's OSC tutorials and looks like most of the site was scraped so all still available that way. But alas, no dynamic forums. Static Way Back Machine archives.

I will certainly miss the conversations from around the world. Yes these forums do too, but having a dedicated site worked for me.

While I don't think that these forums work as well, I wouldn't mind if Apple would pick up the ball and consider hosting something along the lines of fcp.co. Perhaps a potential conversation here and @ the next Summit meeting?

Personally I think Apple benefits highly from sites like fcp.co so sponsoring such a site is good business.

While they are at it, why not for all the Pro Apps?

Looking forward to seeing familiar fcp.co names here…

Wish you all peace and happiness

Best Greg

Greg,

Foremost it is great of you to thank Peter and it’s something that should have been first in all our comments. I’ll take this opportunity to thank Peter as well. I’m assuming he will or is reading this.

Peter’s site was a guide and a problem solving place for me when it was 3 in the morning. I also agree that it was a wonderful gathering from people of all editing backgrounds from around the world.

Greg, it was because of fcp.co that I came to the summit with my wife way back when. What a great experience.

As for apple taking over a similar role…great idea…I’m staying positive;)

Also, I can’t seem to access any of the blog links on the fwd site. It would be cool for others who need help to be able to access this as a resource.

All the best and have fun as usual at the summit!

Hi Bill

Are you having problems with webarchive.org?

Here's how I have been able to get to the info on fcp.co.

Enter search in web browser (I used Safari} for Web Archive or internet archive way back machine.

This should take you to opening page where you can enter the URL or site name to see if there are archived files. Warning: once you are on the webarchive.org website, search and opening the files is sloooow, so be patient.

Enter fcp.co into search field.

This will take you to a calendar page that shows you dates that the site was archived.

Click on one of the colored circles on the calendar and a pop-up screen will appear with dates for the files collected, click on one of them and wait. The site should load fcp.co for that date.

You can then navigate the web site. Everything is running off of servers for webarchive so be patient.

Way Back Machine and the archive does work and is a reminder that what's on the internet, stays on the internet sort of!

Let me know if this works for you.

Hope this Helps, Greg
