How to prioritize calendar alerts

I work in an office so most of the time most of my alerts are silent or haptics. Rude to have those going off in an office all the time, in my opinion. This means, though I don’t get what I need from my watch or phone sometimes. I miss appointments, or am often late, etc.

I love my Apple devices, use them all daily (I have one of each) and have for years so I think I just need to learn a new way of doing things.

Does anyone know how to get sound alerts for some calendar appointments, or some calendars, while leaving others silent?

How to make those alerts always sound (I think time sensitive handles this) if others don’t?

I’m probably missing something really obvious. Again, looking for a new procedure. Thanks!

Hi Faithnhope77,

You can add an alert to individual calendar events by following "Add an Alert" in Create and edit events in Calendar on iPhone.

You can set an alert to be reminded of an event beforehand.

1. Tap the event, then tap Edit near the top right.
2. In the event details, tap Alert.
3. Choose when you want to be reminded.
4. For example, “At time of event,” “5 minutes before,” or another choice.
5. Note: If you add the address of the event’s location, Calendar uses Apple Maps to look up locations, traffic conditions, and transit options to tell you when it’s time to leave.

Alternatively, you can also choose alerts for specific type of event by following "Turn on customized notifications for specific calendar events" Keep track of events in Calendar on iPhone.

You may also want to look at using Focus if you haven't already so only specific notifications come through on your iPhone Use Focus on your iPhone or iPad.

Take care.
