MacBook Air not providing me the option to reset my password

Hi I just got a new MacBook Air. I have been trying to login but I can not. I have follow the recommendations about entering a password up to three times until I see the option to reset the password. My problem is that I don’t get the option to reset the password. I try and try and restart it but that option does not appear on the screen
