If you started a subscription inside the app on an Apple device, then the subscription will be listed in the subscriptions overview for your Apple ID account. You may cancel it from there. If you want to cancel a subscription from Apple - Apple Support
Subscriptions that you do not wish to continue, should be canceled at least 24 hours before the renewal moment, else it may auto-renew for another billing period.
Trial subscriptions may auto-renew after the trial period into any of the offered plans as set by the app publisher, possibly a year plan. Canceling a subscription during a free trial period will expire a subscription immediately. Canceling a subscription during the paid periods will expire at the end of the current billing cycle.
After canceling a subscription, you should see some changes in your subscriptions overview.
- After canceling, in the subscription details, the cancel option will no longer show. Instead, one should see re-subscribe options.
- A canceled trial subscription should immediately be listed in the overview as expired subscription (separate from the active subscriptions) for some time, with an expire date in the past.
- A canceled subscription during the paid periods should first be listed as active in the overview, with an expire date in the future. Once that date has passed, the subscription will move to expired subscriptions for some time, before getting unlisted for you.
- Ongoing active subscriptions will be listed with a renewal date in the future.
