Can I make the notification banner style persistent for VIP contacts and temporary for everybody else?

I have set the banner style for email notifications to ‘temporary’, but I want notification banners for emails from VIPs to be persistent.

I see I can customise VIP notifications but only to the extent I can turn alerts on or off.

From browsing online it seems it was once possible to do what I want but I can’t see any way of doing it today.

So my question is: can I make the notification banner style persistent for VIPs and temporary for everybody else?
