Schlage Encode Plus Deadbolt Lock

I was able to get the primary user’s iPhone and Apple Watch connected to the Schlage Encode Plus. Both Devices will lock/unlock the lock by tapping the iPhone/watch to the lock. I cannot get a second user added to the lock that allows lock/unlock with tap of device. I can get the user added through the Schlage app but it only allows usage of an assigned PIN code, not assigning of Apple Home Key. It was my understanding that an Apple Hub was not required if remote lock management was not needed.

No. I have not. Old documentation says a hub not needed. More recent documentation states that if you are using the new Apple Home architecture you have to have an Apple Hub. More specifically, it can’t be an IPad. All info points to having to spend another $100+ on more hardware. Apple support was no help with the lock, only recommended a Hub to be able to share Apple Home with family members. Said to contact Schlage for configuring their (Schlage’s) product.
